Suppression
Running away as fast as he can distance from the moving shadow
Menace laughs, screams, evil intent it follows.
He stumbles through the narrow lane finding an exit
Hope downfell when only a brick wall he hit
Closer they come, breath starts to come in shallows.
Jagged claws of fear reached out and held him unfree
“Come my pretty, don’t you want to look and see?”
A commanding yet staggering gentle clawed hand forced his line of sight to gander.
Heart pounding, trepidation, angst, denial was his initial answer
Meddling mind, a whisper of question forms to perceive who assaults his entity.
Aghast he was at what hovered on the ground in front of him
Distorted, macabre figure instilled in his consciousness cannot be unseen.
He scratched, he forced, he punched away to depart from the unwanted foe
Blows he hit, blows he smirked in triumph when the claws let go
Empowered he kept going with his fists until he heard a boy yell “Stop! Look at the scene!”
The bloody haze fogged out of his eyes, making him see clearly
Confusement, bewilderment on not what but who stood in front of him bruised, angry.
Parents, people, relationships all he has failed appeared one by one looking at him disappointed
Until the last one brought him to his knees did he realize who called and ended
His young self with inexperienced innocence crouched down broken dejectedly.
Awoke he jumped, startled with the loud beating drums of his own heart
Pulled his hair with a force to mask the pain that rips him apart
Broke his own reflection in the mirror, shards of glasses cutting his skin
Blood drips from his still closed fist, hurt he feels nothing
As he relives the ache from his tormented heart from the memories that he wants to depart.
But helpless he feels when he recalls the disappointment of each face
Shattering each cell, every fiber of his skin, his soul from happiness.
He opened a bottle of alcohol, drank straight bottoms up
Burning his throat, he cares not as he does not give a fuck.
It's the only way he knows where he will be able to smile and laugh to numbness.
